J.J. White Helps the Philadelphia Stock Exchange

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Philadelphia, PA

Situation

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange continues to expand its capabilities, but this expansion was not planned for in the original building design. The existing HVAC system was inadequate for the building’s increasing size and was unreliable. In order to continue its expansion, a solution had to be found.

Challenges

The area selected for the installation of two new ten-ton units was directly above a major portion of the trading floor. This section of the floor is busy from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and trading could not be disturbed at all during this time period. In addition, the computer equipment on the floor could not be damaged by any work-related incidents.

Solutions

Before commencing work, J.J. White took time to observe the floor and become acquainted with its associated traffic. J.J. White created a specialized, comprehensive work plan at the Exchange to ensure minimal disruption to the work at the Exchange. Temporary tents were built over the computer work stations, and the area directly under the work area was curtained off. J.J. White erected these tents and curtains every night after closing, and took them down every morning by 6:30 am.

Results

J.J. White prides itself on delivering turnkey solutions, rather than simple equipment sales and installation. The specialized work plan for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange allowed a true upgrade without interference to the Exchange’s work schedule. J.J. White provides solutions first, sales and installation second.
