Situation
Rowan’s current contractor was unable to get two of the University’s Carrier Absorber Chillers to run properly.
Challenges
Cooled air was not reaching two of the buildings on campus at a time when air conditioning was needed.
Solutions
Upon receiving a Request for Service on two buildings, J.J. White dispatched a mechanical engineer from the Chiller Division to assess the problem. During the initial inspection, the engineer’s expertise enabled him to notice a series of leaks that prevented routine functioning of the chillers. Repairs of leaks, adjustments to the refrigerant charges, and the addition of certain chemicals to these Absorbers allowed the Chillers to supply the proper amount of 40ºF chilled water to the building.
Results
This service call not only repaired the Absorber Chillers and restored cool air to two buildings, but also reduced operating costs for Rowan due to a more efficient operating system. J.J. White is now the contractor of choice at Rowan for its HVAC needs.
