JJ White General Construction

Valero Delaware City Coker Turnaround

Karl Fails

I would like to formally thank you for your help during the Coker turnaround.  I appreciate the dedication and hard work shown by all of the organizations in the refinery and by JJ White.  While the turnaround obviously went longer than planned (primarily due to the CO Boiler challenges), I was impressed by the professionalism shown by all in dealing with the issues and moving towards solutions.  I feel that we had a team that functioned well, where all disciplines could talk about problems in a constructive way and we even started to trust each other.  I hope to build on these successes for future turnarounds.  Since startup, the unit has been operating well and we’re looking forward to meeting our run length objective of 3 years.

As a small token of appreciation for your hard work, the Coker Operations team would like to buy turnaround jackets for each of you.  Dave Kirk is coordinating the order, so I ask that you send him your jacket size and he will keep track in the attached spreadsheet.  Our goal will be to place the order by the end of August so we can have the jackets here sometime in September, in time for fall.

Thanks again for all of your many contributions,

Karl Fails
