20/20/20 For Safety
Every 20 minutes, take 20 seconds and look 20 feet around you.
This helps you stay aware of changes to your surrounding environment and by only spending 1 minute every hour, stay focused on safety!!!!
Ask yourself these questions:
- What am I going to do?
- What is the purpose to do this job, task or activity?
- How will I do that job, task or activity?
- How could I get hurt doing this job, task or activity?
- What will I do to prevent accident (injury, illness health)?
These items should be addressed in the use of our JSA Cards.
Work Permitting is applied before the job, task or activity. Questions are asked and a checklist shall be completed to ensure that hazards are not overlooked. Commonly included items on the checklist are analysis of toxic gas (such as carbon monoxide), oxygen sufficiency, flammable gas concentration, etc. Permits may also address LOTO, previous conditions associated with the systems to be worked on, and a job site inspection.
Equipment Inspection is necessary to any equipment before it is used or put into service. Equipment inspection is planned and organized to check overall equipment conditions, safety protective equipment, guarding, emergency stop, etc. We have incorporated a Quarterly Inspection Program for a specific list of items. The most important thing we can do with inspecting equipment is to conduct an inspection prior to each use.
