Philadelphia, PA Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry

Situation

JJ White was hired to complete a 100,000 square foot, $12,000,000 gut and fit-out project at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry. The project sought to modernize the way the school approached their instruction with a state-of-the-art facility and high-tech equipment.

Challenges

The greatest challenges this job faced were the aggressive time schedule and level of occupation within the existing facility. The pre-clinical dentistry lab needed to be fully renovated in under 3 months while the school remained fully operational.

Solutions

JJ White deployed two teams of tradesmen that essentially worked around the clock to meet the three month deadline in renovating the pre-clinical facility. The JJ White teams also developed work-arounds so all educational activities remained uninterrupted throughout the construction process. JJ White fitted operatories, laboratories, classrooms, stadium seating lecture halls, administrative support centers, executive offices/suites, lounges, bathrooms, waiting rooms, reception areas, and skylights. JJ White also did a replacement of the building’s Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.

Results

The extensive renovation of Temple’s Kornberg School of Dentistry by JJ White has transformed the school into a modern force in the field. The high-tech equipment and open-floor layout give students the opportunity to learn and grow in a free-flowing environment with less barriers.
