Wawa Opens New Store Built By JJ White In The News

PHILADELPHIA – On July 14th, Wawa Inc. and JJ White Inc. wrapped up a few quick months of construction and cut the ribbon on store #8087 in Philadelphia, Pa. The store is located in Philadelphia’s Northeast section along Roosevelt Boulevard, a high-traffic area that sees many regional commuters. This store will provide convenience for those passing through the area and supplement the area’s surrounding Wawa locations. However, the lifeblood of this location will be the hardworking neighborhoods of Rhawnhurst and Lexington Park.

Area residents were invited to take a tour around their new convenience hub while community leaders participated in various activities to celebrate the grand opening. Local firefighters and members of the local police district competed in a hoagie building contest that ended in a hotly contested tie. Charitable donations to the Firefighter’s Widow Fund and the Underprivileged Children Holiday Fund were made to celebrate the grand opening

“The best projects are always the ones that the community can use and love. This one isn’t too far from our offices, so you can guarantee that I’ll be back to check in,” laughed JJ White Project Manager Vic Torino.

The project kicked off in January of 2017 and wrapped up in early June before Wawa crews began to populate the shelves and train staff. The fast-paced schedule required diligence from the JJ White project team to ensure the on-time completion of the project.

“This is our third time working with Wawa and we’re proud to have delivered yet another successful project. Just look at all these smiling faces, it’s fantastic to be a part of,” said Torino.
