JJ White was hired to complete a $7.8M gut and conversion of the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary’s gymnasium. The space was then to be converted into a state-of-the-art library complete with computer lab and offices.
The St. Charles Borromeo Seminary desired for the incorporation of numerous historical features to give the new library a classical feel. The Seminary also wanted to preserve their historical archives collections as a piece of the library.
JJ White was able to incorporate the Seminary’s historical archives collection, rework and recreate numerous ornamental finishes, install premium grade millwork features, and replace custom classic windows in order to give the library a classical feel. JJ White also installed new Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems while the library remained fully functional throughout the project’s duration.
St. Charles Borromeo Seminary’s Ryan Memorial Library was built on a fully occupied campus with minimal disruption to students. The fully functional library serves as a meeting area, study space, computer resource area, and campus landmark.
