JJ White Inc. Brings Pretzels & Jobs Back to Indiana In The News

PLYMOUTH, IND. – A year after a devastating fire destroyed Pretzels Inc.’s Pennsylvania production facility, a city and a tight-knit company finally got their opportunity to celebrate. The ribbon cutting ceremony for Plymouth’s new economic driver provided a sense of relief for the city, and a renewed sense of pride for the company.

After all employees were safe and accounted for after the fire, Pretzels Inc. wondered what the future of their peanut butter filled pretzel business might hold. In a nearly unprecedented maneuver, company leaders decided to forge ahead with a plan to build a new production facility in nine months. After purchasing an existing warehouse, Pretzels Inc. faced the problem of finding a company to build their vision for a pretzel factory in accordance with their aggressive timeline.

Always ready for a challenge, JJ White Inc.’s Midwest construction group took on the pretzel factory job and immediately went to work on turning the old warehouse into a high-tech, modern food production facility. The ten man JJ White crew completed the complex mechanical construction work that ties the building and equipment together in record time. JJ White crews also completed the full plumbing installation for the 45,000 square foot building.

“It is an honor to help turn a tragedy into a celebration,” said JJ White Inc. President Jim White IV. “It was certainly a challenge to complete the project in under nine months, but we have the experience and knew we were up to the task.”

JJ White crews completed the project on time and Pretzels Inc. resumed production of 48,000 pounds of pretzels per day in the Fall of 2017. However, the story doesn’t end there. The city of Plymouth, Indiana recently lost many area jobs due to the closure of other factories. The new pretzel facility is a boon for the local economy and has brought more than 50 jobs back to the area. These jobs help stabilize and grow the local community, allowing for better public infrastructure and education.

The win-win nature of this project is a testament to everyone involved. The hard work of Pretzels Inc., JJ White Inc., and the local community are already paying dividends.
