Fall Protection: Personal Guidelines
- Work performed on unprotected walking/working surfaces greater than 6’ from a lower level requires use of fall protection systems.
- Fall protection systems consist of:
- Guardrails
- Full-body harness with a shock absorbing lanyard (personal fall arrest)
- Anchor Points
- Life-lines (vertical & horizontal)
- Safety Nets
- Warning Lines
- Safety Monitoring Systems
- When employees are expected to move continuously on unprotected walking/working surfaces, the work shall be evaluated by those doing the work and the supervisor to determine the type of a fall arrest system (such as a horizontal lifeline for anchorage to allow movement).
