Fall Protection: Personal Guidelines Safety

Fall Protection: Personal Guidelines

  1. Work performed on unprotected walking/working surfaces greater than 6’ from a lower level requires use of fall protection systems.
  2. Fall protection systems consist of:
    • Guardrails
    • Full-body harness with a shock absorbing lanyard (personal fall arrest)
    • Anchor Points
    • Life-lines (vertical & horizontal)
    • Safety Nets
    • Warning Lines
    • Safety Monitoring Systems
  3. When employees are expected to move continuously on unprotected walking/working surfaces, the work shall be evaluated by those doing the work and the supervisor to determine the type of a fall arrest system (such as a horizontal lifeline for anchorage to allow movement).
