Philadelphia, PA Citizens Bank Park Service Lot LED Light Upgrade

Situation

The service lot at the Philadelphia Phillies’ Citizens Bank Park was illuminated by energy inefficient, incandescent light poles. The existing lighting was not very bright, needed frequent replacement, and drove up energy costs at the stadium. The Phillies decided to install LED light posts in their service lot, and brought in JJ White Inc. to complete the job.

Challenges

This project started just before the baseball season as the Phillies were in Clearwater, Florida for spring training. The project needed to be finished as fast as possible in order to be ready for the upcoming season. Each light pole being worked on had to be back up and running before the end of the work day.

Solutions

JJ White created an aggressive schedule to minimize disruptions to Opening Day preparations around the Ballpark. The schedule also took into account the need to finish each light pole before the end of the work day.

Results

The service lot at Citizens Bank Park is now fully illuminated with energy efficient LED lighting that provides a 65% energy savings and over 100,000 hours of service life. The project was completed on-time and on-budget ahead of the Phillies 2017 home opener.
