The Situation
JJ White was selected as the General Contractor to renovate the St. Monica Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. The site consisted of the existing nursing home as well as the former school located next door. The renovation sought to modernize the facility while incorporating the former school into a fully comprehensive nursing home facility.
The Challenges
The existing nursing home was occupied throughout the duration of the renovation. The seniors receiving care at the facility were particularly susceptible to construction debris and dust. Work had to be carried out with minimal disruptions to the facility’s everyday operations.
Solutions
JJ White crews began work on the former school to create a swing space to house those living in the nursing home. Work was carefully phased in order to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Results
The St. Monica Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare is now a fully functional nursing home operating in a modern facility. With over 175 beds, a new cafeteria, new laundry facilities, and a new commercial kitchen, the staff can provide the best possible care for everyone at the facility.
