University of Notre Dame, IN Notre Dame East Chiller Plant

Situation

In recent years Notre Dame has performed campus-wide renovations to maintain its renowned reputation and to attract prospective students. However, to supplement these renovations the campus needed 4,000 tons of additional chilled water capacity. That is when JJ White was brought in to install the East Chiller Plant.

Problem

The crew faced issues when it came to coordinating designated construction times and the plant’s integration into the University’s Main Chilled Water Plant. This caused the crew to adjust their schedule and logistics plan in order to complete the project.

Solution

The crew closely coordinated the project’s sequencing and phasing in order to gain access to the Main Chilled Water Plant. This precision allowed the systems to integrate while keeping the project on schedule and avoiding any lost time.

Results

The project was completed on-time and on-budget. There were zero OSHA recordables, and the University is now able to enhance their existing renovations with more chilled water capacity.
