Calpine is America’s largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources. As a company, their main goal is to use advanced technology to produce clean energy in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. Calpine brought in JJ White to complete a full scope of services, making sure time and safety took priority. JJ White performed the Mechanical installation of a complete HRSG Plant.
Due to the nature of the project, scheduling and logistics were a key factor in its completion. However, the crew ran in to issues when they were given limited access to the construction staging area. This complicated the timeline, and forced crew members to find an alternate plan for installations.
The crew used computerized engineering lifts capable of lifting up to 100 tons at a time. This allowed for more material to be transferred at once, allowing crew members to stick to their strict schedule and mitigate the effects of their limited access to the staging area.
The project was completed on-time and on-budget, with zero OSHA recordables and over 200,000 man-hours worked to complete the project.
